Santa Ana, Puerto de la Cruz, La Graciosa & Arrecife put an end to the 32nd edition

• The final weekend will feature concerts by Nik West, Caramelo de Cuba, Carmen Souza, Ayom, Pere Bujosa Trío, Daniel García Trío, Paco Perera and Puertas al Sur 5Tet

• La Gomera will close this year’s programme on Monday 24

Islas Canarias, 19 de julio de 2023. The Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más comes to its final phase featuring some twenty concerts which will be shared over the course of the weekend on the islands of Tenerife (Puerto de la Cruz), Gran Canaria (Plaza de Santa Ana & La Fábrica), Lanzarote (Arrecife), La Graciosa and La Gomera (Playa Santiago). A last installment in which you can enjoy different rhythms that range from the Cape Verdean culture of Carmen Souza to Caramelo de Cuba’s fusion of Latin jazz with flamenco; the explosive funk of Nik West to the tropical Afro-Portuguese of Ayom; from Paco Pereras traditional Canarian folk to the more classical postulates; but with a touch of contemporary, by the Pere Bujosa Trío & Daniel García Trío; from the the rhythms of the Colombian cumbia by Puertas al Sur 5Tet to the dialogue between Javier Infante’s guitar and José Alberto Medina’s piano.

The greater concentration of concerts will be held in Puerto de la Cruz and the public square – Plaza de Santa Ana, specifically there will be three nights in a row of music, from Thursday 20 till Saturday 22. In the locality in the north of the island of Tenerife, the concerts will be staged in the Tourist Complex of Lago Martiánez, with a novelty that will be most attractive to audiences and artists, given that the stage this year will be located inside one of the pools of this popular centre created by César Manrique. There, on Thursday, starting at 20.30 hours, there will be performances by Carmen Souza & Caramelo de Cuba; on Friday Nik West (whose concert begins at 20.30 hours) & Ayom; and to finish, on Saturday, on a full day of electoral reflection, it will be the turn of Daniel García Trío & Paco Perera. Featuring a similar programme, on Thursday the public square – Plaza de Santa Ana will host Pere Bujosa Trío & Nik West; on Friday Carmen Souza & Caramelo de Cuba; and on Saturday Puertas al Sol 5Tet & Ayom. All these concerts are free entrance and it will not be necessary to have an invitation.

For yet another year the festival returns to La Graciosa, with a concert on Friday 21 featuring Paco Perera starting at 20.30 hours, this year with the novelty that it will be held outdoors, on the pier Muelle de Caleta de Sebo (free entrance).

The following day, the festival returns to Lanzarote, where one of the inaugural concerts was held in the auditorium of Jameos del Agua. Starting at 20.30 horas, in the square – Plaza del Almacén, in Arrecife, there will be a concert featuring Carmen Souza & Caramelo de Cuba, for their third and last performance at the festival (free entrance).

On Sunday 23 July, and half an hour after the polling stations close on the islands, La Fábrica (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) will host the concert featuring Javier Infante & José Alberto Medina Dúo. The last concert of the festival will be held on Monday 24 July in Playa Santiago (La Gomera), on a day that is the eve of a holiday on the Colombina Island. The closing act at this 32^nd edition of the Festival Canarias Jazz & Más will be the Daniel García Trio (20.30 hours, free entrance).
