Septeto Santiaguero

Founded in 1995 in Santiago de Cuba and with Fernando Dewar at the reins as its director, ‘Septeto Santiaguero’ is a group considered among the main exponents of Cuban traditional music, affirmation endorsed by his outstanding career plus the recognitions and awards achieved throughout it. From its foundation until 2010 they released another five albums that were and are a luxury for music lovers and dancers.


Among the most relevant recognitions they have, the ‘Cuba Album Award’ they received in 2011 was the most outstanding, as was the nomination at the twelfth edition of the Latin Grammy Awards in 2013 for the disc ‘Oye mi son santiaguero’ in the ‘Best Traditional Tropical Album’ category.

‘Septeto Santiaguero’ already have several albums to their name, among them being: ‘Vamos Pa’ La Fiesta’, ‘Oye Mi Son Santiaguero’, ‘Septeto Santiaguero’. In 2015 they presented the production ‘No quiero llanto, tributo a Los Compadres’, which featured collaborations by musicians such as Venezuelan Oscar DLeón, Puerto Ricans Ismael Miranda, Andy Montañez, Edwin Bonilla & the group Esencia, Cubans Aymee Nuviola, Eliades Ochoa, Tiburón Morales, the conga santiaguera of Los Hoyos, Estrellas de la Charanga & the Orquesta Sinfónica de Oriente. This phonogramme earned them a Latin Grammy. Later came ‘Raíz’ and ‘A mi qué’, the latter winning the top prize in 2018 and consecutively because the Latin Grammy Awards are held every four years. They come to ‘Canarias Jazz & Más’ presenting their latest album, titled ‘Y sigo pa’lante’.
