Polo Ortí New Project

The Canarian pianist, composer and teacher, Polo Ortí, is proud to present, for the first time and exclusively, for this 33rd edition of the Canary islands Jazz Festival (Festival de Jazz de Canarias), his new project that brings together a group of young and talented musicians. The repertoire will include various genres, from original compositions to reinterpretations of classical standards, through incursions into various genres such as Jazz Fusion, Latin Music & Electro Jazz. An eclectic musical show that promises a load of energy & spontaneity.

Chipi Chacón is a Venezuelan trumpet player, singer and producer, currently catalogued as one of the young Latin American musicians with the greatest international projection, recognised by the greatest masters of the music world for his great versatility. He has performed in more than 50 countries and has collaborated with figures such as John Williams, Martha Argerich, Bob Mintzer, Arturo Sandoval, Jimmy Haslip, James Morrinson, Paquito D’ Rivera, among others. Chipi has seven albums under his belt and has won multiple awards in his country during his short but impressive career. He has also been nominated for a Latin Grammy for “Best New Artist” for his album “Transparente”.

Galician drummer Naíma Acuña has an innate talent and unique style that has made her a leading figure on the jazz scene and modern music today. With impeccable technique backed by years of experience and the influence of masters such as legendary drummer Alex Acuña and virtuoso saxophonist Greg Osby, Naíma will offer her skill in rhythms and incomparable energy.

In addition, Polo Ortí once again features the presence of the versatile & talented Hungarian bass player Samuel Kéri, whose ability to create innovative bass lines and his skill in approaching different musical styles, makes him the perfect complement to this band.
