Javier Infante & José Alberto Medina Dúo
The duo formed by the pianist Jose Alberto Medina and guitarist Javier Infante shows with complete honesty the fusion of the roots of Canarian music, with influences from jazz and chamber music of European tradition. Strings and keys involve us in an authentic dialogue and mutual admiration. The Spanish guitar together with the piano give energy and dynamism to a repertoire of universal character.
These two great composers & performers of their own music tell us a story at each recital. Interaction and improvisation are prominent elements that make each concert a unique and unrepeatable experience. They have released two albums Dúos (2010) & Alegre Coraçao (2014). This original duo commenced their national & international career path playing at the ‘XX Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz y Mas Heineken’, XXIX Madrid Jazz Festival, Club Jamboree in Barcelona, Festival de Jazz de Santo Domingo Jazz Festival in the Dominican Republic, ‘31º Festival OAicina da Musica in Curitiba, Brasil’, Spanish Sound Festival, at ‘Haus am Waldsee’ in Berlín & Heidelberg University at the ‘Jornada de Hispanismo’ in Germany, in the first edition market culture Maps in the Canary Islands.
Recorded in Madrid in February 2023, ‘Volver’ came about after 13 years since this duo met again to record their third album featuring their own compositions. Javier together with Jose Alberto recreate a constant dialogue between guitar and piano revisiting some songs and hits of South American music.
