Shinkarenko Jazz 5N
For decades Shinkarenko has been one of the most prolific jazz musicians of Lithuania and there is probably no other bass player in this Baltic state better known than him.The story of his current band goes back many years, back to the times when Shinkarenko was part of the ‘Lithuanian Jazz Trio’. Another member of that trio is also part of the new band, saxophonist and keyboard player Vytautas Labutis, a legendary Lithuanian jazz musician as well. Also drummer Linas Būda has a long career and history with different bands and projects, as well as the new band member, trumpeter Valerijus Ramoška
Groovy, electro-acoustic music is what these four guys have in their repertoire and to offer. Well composed songs that might start only with a funky bass line, developing into an energetic wall of sound, coming from the saxophone & trumpet and the powerful drumming. Catchy are the melodies of the self-penned songs, but despite all the catchiness there is room for hot soloing and improvisational ideas and excurses. The ballads are also touching where the four musicians can show their other side. This band has it all – musical mastery, energy, heart and soul, and fun.
For the concert at the ‘Canarias Jazz & Más 2023’, Shinkarenko Jazz 4N will be accompanied by the pianist, keyboard player & composer Andrius Savčenko, member of the young generation of Lithuanian jazz. He studied & lived in Holland. He is currently studying for his Masters in jazz at the Lithuanian Academy of Music & Theatre. He has won various contests and actively participates in several projects, events & festivals, such as Vilnius Mama Jazz, Kaunas Jazz, Klaipėda Jazz, Galvė Jazz, MAMA Awards and others. He has performed in the USA, Germany, Czech Republic, Estonia & Latvia.
