Pere Bujosa Trio
Pere Bujosa Trio is a group formed in the year 2017 in Amsterdam by the double bass player from Mallorca Pere Bujosa, pianist Xavi Torres & drummer Joan Terol. Together they create a music that unites elements such as polyrhythms, atmospheric effects & sounds, as well as arrangements based on the jazz tradition and other genres such as rock or electronic music.
The artists who accompany Bujosa are recognized members of the Catalan jazz scene: Xavi Torres, in spite of his youth, has won awards at the Dutch Jazz Competition, the Keep an Eye Records and the Keep an Eye Contest. Also as best soloist at the Getxo Festival and has been semi-finalist at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Award competition in Washington. Joan Terol, for his part, has a long list of collaborations as sideman with Benny Golson, Lee Knotz & Jesse Davis, among others, and was co-leader of well-known groups like Maarten Hogenhuis Trio, Maartje Meijer Quintet, Tempera!, Pablo Martínez Flamenco- Jazz Band and The BvR Flamenco Big Band.
Mallorcan Pere Bujosa presented his second album as leader Wabi-sabi (2019), on the recognised label ‘Fresh Sound New Talent’.
Bujosa has worked at the service of musicians such as the international artists Antonio Serrano, Ben Van Gelder (Netherlands), Hannah Paulsberg (Norway) & Salvador Sobral (Portugal). In this work, Bujosa explores the possibilities of one of the most classic formats in the field of jazz: the trio of piano, double bass & drums. Pere Bujosa’s group is committed to reflect the passion of the Mallorcan musician for rhythm & textures, with a purely jazz formula but with influences of rock, electronics and open improvisation, among other genres.
