
MELISSA ALDANA QUARTET
Melissa Aldana is an internationally acclaimed saxophonist, songwriter & band leader, known for her distinctive & expressive jazz voice and her ability to perfectly combine tradition with innovation.
Born in Santiago, Chile, she is the first female instrumentalist to win the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition, which had propelled her to the world stage. Since then, she has established herself as a powerful voice in contemporary jazz, with two Grammy nominations and praise for her unique approach to composition & improvisation.
On the ‘Blue Note’ recording label, Melissa has released several albums acclaimed by the critics, such as 12 Stars & Echoes of the Inner Prophet, that highlight her rich narrative, her skillful technique and deep emotional connection to music.
Her art has shone on iconic stages and festivals around the world, from the Village Vanguard in New York City to international venues in Europe, Asia & South America.
