GONZALO RUBALCABA ‘Trio d’Été’ with Matt Brewer & Eric Harland
Recognized in his own right as one of the great pianists of the 20th and 21st century alongside figures such as Glenn Gould, Martha Argerich and Bill Evans, pianist & composer Gonzalo Rubalcaba is undoubtedly a living jazz legend. He has won three Grammy and four Latin Grammy Awards, as well as being nominated on 21 occasions and receiving countless awards & recognitions throughout an impressive musical career. His latest release Borrowed Roses – Piano Solo, was acclaimed by the specialist critics and selected as one of the best jazz albums of 2023 worldwide.
When Dizzy Gillespie got to know Gonzalo Rubalcaba he praised him as “the greatest pianist I’ve heard in the past 10 years”. Sir Simon Rattle, who was the chief conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker from 2002 till 2018, called him “the most gifted pianist on the planet”.
He will be accompanied at the 34th Festival Canarias Jazz & Más by one of the most promising bassists of the moment, Matt Brewer, and drummer Eric Harland who, with close to 200 recorded releases and repeatedly acknowledged by specialist critics, has been nominated for several Grammy Awards.
