ANNA RODRÍGUEZ & THREE
‘Anna Rodríguez & Three’ is a Canarian quartet that merges jazz, funk, boleros, ‘morna’ and more music with a sophisticated and energetic approach. Led by singer & songwriter Anna Rodríguez, the group is completed by three musicians with extensive career paths: Eliseo Lloreda (guitar), Felu Morales (bass) and José Miguel Méndez ‘Churchi’ (drums).
For their participation at the Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más, they present a revamped selection from their album No Solo Jazz (2015) and another, And… We Still Are (2021), featuring original compositions by Anna and Eliseo Lloreda that constitute influences of R&B, soul and flamenco fusion. As a novelty, they include pieces by Felu Morales to which Anna has added lyrics, thus adding a new dimension to their repertoire.
Anna Rodríguez, with a track record of over 25 years, has shared the stage at past festivals with artists such as SFJAZZ Collective & Lee Ritenour Band feat. Dave Grusin. In addition to her career as a singer, she also runs her interviewing project AnnasGrooveGuide, spreading the work of jazz musicians and many other genres.
Three is an instrumental trio made up of Eliseo Lloreda (guitar), Felu Morales (electric bass) & José Miguel Méndez “Churchi” (drums), three icons on the Canarian music scene that have been playing together for more than 30 years.
Their mutual understanding on stage is the result of decades of shared work, musical exploration and a deep artistic connection that transcends genres.
In addition to their personal projects, the three musicians have accompanied leading figures of jazz and popular music, such as Jorge Pardo o Perico Sambeat, participating in festivals and concerts both inside Spain and abroad. With a fusion rich in nuances and a contemporary approach, ‘Anna Rodríguez & Three’ offer a vibrant show, ideal for the essence of the ‘Festival Internacional Canarias Jazz & Más’.
