Idafe Pérez Quinteto

Idafe Pérez carried out his basic studies at the Higher Music Conservatory (Conservatorio Superior de Música) of Tenerife, and then temporarily at the Barcelona Music Workshop and ‘ESMUC’. He was given classes by Mathew Simon, Eladio Reinón, Joan Monne and others, as well as master classes by Bob Mintzer, Bobby Shew, Joe Magnarelli, David Liebman, Perico Sambeat & Avishai Cohen, among others. He has participated in numerous Jazz festivals and has collaborated with musicians and bands of recognized prestige, such as Kike Perdomo and Big Band Canarias, with Dick Oatts, Gerardo Núñez, Sören Moller, Daymé Arocena, Sole Jiménez, Perico Sambeat Sexteto, Ernesto Aurignac, Alfons Carrascosa & BAB Barcelona, Joe Morris, José Ángel Vera, Octavio Hernández, David Quevedo, Arturo Serra, Daniel Torres & Enrique Oliver, among many others.

José Ángel Vera has extended and very varied musical experience in different musical styles (jazz, world music, Latin jazz, Brazilean choro). He has had the opportunity to work with artists of the stature of Dick Oatts, Perico Sambeat, Antonio Serrano, Carmen París, Alain Pérez, Deborah Carter, Rex Richardson, Bob Sands, Kris Goessens, Bobby Martinez, Ralph Alessi, David Pastor, John Ruocco, Michael Moore, Jamie Davis, as well as artists like Bertín Osborne, Soledad Giménez, Alex O ́dogherty, etc. He is currently the leader of the musical ensembles José Vera Bello Cuarteto, Colectivo Hard Bop, Manao y forma parte de Alain Pérez y la CMQ Big Band, Bob Sands Big Band, Big Band de Canarias, Gran Canaria Big Band, ENM Big Band, Orquesta Nacional de Cabo Verde, Pepe Rivero Big Band, Orquesta Sinfónica Chamartín, Ensemble TAI, Ensemble Salvaje, The Tribuletes, etc.

Luis Sánchez Guerra began his career as a self-taught pianist and improviser, to then work the fundamentals of jazz in the school of “Fábrica La Isleta”, which would serve as a supporting base to access the prestigious Berklee College of Music, with its centre in Boston, Massachusetts. He has collaborated with groups led by well known artists, such as Sonah Jobarteh, Trinidad Jiménez, Yul Ballesteros, Martín Leiton, among others, as well as in jazz formations in Boston as well as in the Canary Islands, Latvia & Lithuania.

Ancor Miranda studied at the Liceu Conservatory of Music in Barcelona where he obtained the Higher Degree in Jazz and Modern Music. Later he resided for two years in Belgium to undertake a Master in Jazz Interpretation with the maestro Dré Pallemaerts. He has collaborated with renowned musicians at both island, national and international levels, as well as with a variety of groups; and all this in combination with his curiosity for composition.

Nelson Saavedra Santana studied double bass to medium grade at the professional Conservatory of Music of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and continued his higher studies at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, specializing in jazz and modern music. He has recorded two solo albums, one with the band Zumurrud and more recently a nonet album tribute to Miles Davis. He is currently developing his third solo album and is a member of a few bands, such as Zumurrud, Blanca Ferrer Trío, Budur & Nelson Saavedra Ensamble.
