Vanessa Hechavarría Quartet
Born and raised in La Habana, Cuba, Vanessa Hechavarría started out in music singing in the school chorus called ‘28 de enero’, in which they sang songs by great singers like Silvio Rodríguez & Pablo Milanés. She spent much of her childhood singing cover versions of her favourite artists and subsequently preparing concerts for her friends and close relatives.
When she was 14 she moved to Tenerife together with her family where she began a new phase. After a year on the island, she started training in Vocal Technique and Piano at the School of Music situated in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
At 16, another musical journey begins for this young talent and she became a member of the Gospel Star Choir, a music genre that would become very important and which would open doors in music for her.
Over the next four years, she gave concerts on the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria & Lanzarote and trained with various renowned professionals including Moisés Salas, conductor of the choral group ‘The Góspel Viu Choir’.
