The year 2020 signified a before & after for Jonay Martín in many aspects. At that time Jonay Martín, guitarist from Orotava (Tenerife), dedicated to creative music & improvisation, was on the verge of recording his second disc as leader. It was all cancelled when we entered unknown territory.
Each person spent their own & unique quarantine, with good & bad experiences, extreme situations that had concrete consequences and lessons that we are still learning.
The reality we knew changed suddenly in the month of March; the world nearly stopped completely before the threat of the unknown virus which was spreading without compassion taking hundreds of lives per hour. Fear & uncertainty took over our everyday life. Music & culture in general were drastically paralysed.
The result of this unprecedented period was a series of compositions that describe some of these experiences, emotions, nonsensical, by which this moment has been categorized. It is, therefore, a need to express, through melodies & harmonies, the stories that have happened and which are described below.
