D'Local Groove
D´Local Groove, ensemble that started out in the year 2017, is a band formed by seven musicians with extensive experience on the Canarian musical scene and who have merged together in this band of very urban music; a live performance full of energy & songs that vary in their generic conception, but have a common factor, groove, a term used to describe a kind of music that gets you moving & dancing. In their compositions we can enjoy very special and harmonically rich arrangements, with references to neo-soul, R&B, reggae, funk & blues. The songs feature fun & ironic lyrics but are also assertive.
The role of Alba Serrano as vocalist introduces new registers to the band and endless new paths, with which the ensemble experiment at each concert. ‘D’Local Groove’ relased their first album in 2022, called Sigo Aquí, the result of a few years of experiences and co-existence, sharing & enjoying many of the musicians that have influenced the band most; and they have managed to gather a good number of fans & followers on all the islands through their live performances. The group feeds off different proposals always seeking root and the great maestros, revisiting them and bringing them up to date to enjoy them in a live performance full of energy.
The lyrics also reflect the reality that we live here in the Canary Islands, denouncing sensitive issues like immigration, racism, inequality. Miguel Ramírez & Miqui Delgado compose the majority of the pieces, with contributions from the rest of the members of the band, which has resulted in a collection of songs that will see the light of day in the coming months.
