The leader of this quintet, José Carlos Cejudo Rodríguez, was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the year 1972. From an early age he was restless in his quest for music, and began studying at the ‘Conservatorio de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria,’ where he learned modern harmony with local teachers.
He completed this training in a ‘self-taught’ manner, supported by means of attending seminars held in the capital city and organised by the annual Jazz Festival, and other such schemes involving important musicians on the international scene.
José began to play professionally in 1990, with his own group “SOL-OFF”, where he composed music & lyrics, sang and played the keyboard, drums, percussion, bass & guitar. Since then, he has fulfilled the role of session musician for recording studios, advertising campaigns, short films and as musician in his own right.
He currently uses his prowess as bassist & contrabassist as well as his versatility in styles by playing in various groups & projects. On this ocassion, he is presenting an exclusive repertoire of his own compositions (unpublished or recorded), and is performing with musicians of known prestige.
